I have been watching the developments regarding H.R. 3200 with increasing interest following claims and counter-claims from both sides. One thing which I only recently discovered courtesy of an article by Thomas Sowell is the extraordinary timing of the push for passing the bill.
President Obama tried very hard to get the bill into congress before the August recess but nobody from the opposition to the bill has asked about the bill’s timing and supposed urgency, even after the President’s address to the joint assembly.
Page 14 of the bill which I downloaded contains the following information. The numbers on the left are line numbers.
10 (25) Y1, Y2, ETC.—The terms ‘‘Y1’’ , ‘‘Y2’’,
11 “Y3’’, ‘‘Y4’’, ‘‘Y5’’, and similar subsequently num-
12 bered terms, mean 2013 and subsequent years, re-
13 spectively.
What the above information means is that the bill will go into effect in the year 2013, thus Y1 refers to the first year of the bill.
I find it incredibly duplicitous that a man who as senator complained about the Bush administration ramming thousand page bills through the legislature without giving the representatives enough time to consider all of the implications would do exactly what he has spoken against once he was president.
Why the rush to pass into law a bill that only comes into effect in 2013? Simply put it is Obama’s plan to rush this through before the general public wises up as to who and what he really is. He wanted to use his majority to ram his plan down the collective throat of the American public.
The other very fishy thing about the timing is that when the bill would take effect in 2013 it would only be after Obama’s re-election bid in 2012. Could it possibly be that the anointed one fears an electoral backlash from the bill would jeopardize his chances of a second term?
I have to agree with Joe Wilson in saying that Obama is being less than honest about his rush to get healthcare reform in place quickly. Many questions still remain about who is covered and for what and the President’s glib answers do not reveal the facts but rather cover them.
Congressman Wilson shouted “You lie!” during the address but did anybody else notice when he shouted this? It was after the President said that illegal aliens would not be covered by the bill. Technically that is true but only on the same level that Clinton’s claim that he had not engaged in sexual relations with “that woman” was true.
Just a Bill Clinton, a serial philanderer, flasher (also alleged to be a sometime rapist) should have heard of and understood the use of the terms “oral sex” and “anal sex” and even “is”, so President Obama should know that the bill does exclude illegal aliens but also precludes anybody being allowed to so much as ask if the person receiving medical treatment (at taxpayer expense) is a citizen.
If the president claims to be ignorant of this perhaps he can explain why GOP attempts to get specific language in the bill regarding illegal aliens and also abortion (which is not mentioned specifically but also not precluded), were rebuffed by the Democrats. Until he can explain that Obamacare needs to be rejected.
