On a recent Fox News segment a liberal commentator said that Joe Wilson was wrong to call out “You lie!” during the presidential address. When three obvious lies were pointed out by others in the discussion her defence was that Obama could not have lied because there is no bill yet! So the bill that the President wanted pushed through congress before the August recess does not exist? Obama’s statements regarding republicans being wrong in telling voters about abortion, illegal aliens and “death panels” being contained in the bill referred to a non-existent document.
I downloaded a copy of H.R. 3200 which was the basis of congressional debate, used in town hall meetings all over the country and defended by democrats all over the country. It is over a thousand pages and I have read quite a lot of it and found that Medicare cuts would take place, abortion is not excluded specifically and health carers are not allowed to ask a patient’s nationality. The last two items mentioned have not been changed despite republican attempts to have those points clarified as the liberals voted against them.
If this is a figment of our collective imagination exactly why did people have to sit through a stultifying 45 minutes of the “great orator” going over things that are not yet written yet pointedly saying on several occasions that health care reform bill opponents were less than honest.
There was only one person on the discussion panel that thought the president was being honest, there was also only one liberal. It is unfortunate that there was not an even balance on the panel but then Fox News has difficulties fielding liberals with anything interesting and intelligent to say. This problem is not limited to Fox News, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC and the rest of the mainstream media have been having the same trouble for years. The mainstream medias persistence in trying any and every liberal commentator may be admirable but wouldn’t you think that they might eventually realize that it affects their ratings?
