A lot of the media have been reporting on the anti-missile defence changes made by the Obama administration. The gist of the matter is that the administration thinks that Iran is not having as much success with their ICBM plans so a short and medium range missile defence will do the job.
Russia is happy and a lot of people are annoyed that there is no quid pro quo from their side i.e. the Russians are not making any concessions. A later report mentioned that the Russians had decided not to install any missiles near Poland as they claim they had planned. This may settle some of the concerns.
Here’s the thing though: the administration is talking about it like the Iranians getting a nuclear bomb is a foregone conclusion so it seems like they have no hope of stopping a terror sponsoring state from acquiring a level of technology the effects of which do not even bear thinking about in the hands of the completely delusional Ahmadinejad.
For the Obama administration to tacitly say that they are prepared to accept Iran joining the nuclear club and not have anybody in the media look at this angle is simply incredible. What the world is looking at is that if Israel does not take things into its own hands and do something to stop the Iranians nothing will be done.
Then again looking at the way Obama has been acting toward Israel perhaps this is the plan. If the Israelis do take out the Iranian nuclear facilities then the international condemnation of them may provide Obama with an excuse to take an even tougher stance on Israel and maybe even abandon America’s best friend in the middle east without getting too much Jewish fallout at home.
